We are thrilled to have Myron Bennell Carroll as our featured Artist of the Week. Hailing from Cleveland, Oh, and currently residing in Conyers, Ga. Myron is a Bassist, Bandleader, and Producer. Coming from a musical family, Myron was drawn to the bass guitar at age 14 after trying guitar and piano lessons (His mother says he cried when she tried to give him lessons, but don’t tell anybody). Myron furthered his musical studies at the Atlanta Institute of Music, where he studied Music Performance, and later returned to study Production and Engineering. In studying Audio Engineering, Myron discovered the use of software as a means to process his sounds in a live setting and hasn’t turned back. Add this to the use of Extended Range Basses as well as the recent addition of the Double Bass, and you have a recipe for the creation of unique sounds that can shape atmospheres. Myron is always learning and describes himself as a “Professional Listener”. He sees the real joy of music as the journey.

What was the first concert you attended?

The first one I remember is Grover Washington Jr at the Front Row Theatre in Cleveland, OH

Tell us about the first gig you ever played?

I grew up in church and started playing bass with the youth choir. It was great because I had some very experienced musicians who were very encouraging. It really made my want to grow as a musician.

What was your most memorable performance?

Playing on the Mo’Nique Show for Isaac Caree.

What are you listening to now?

Andy Summers Green Chimneys: The Music of Thelonious Monk

What is your deserted island album?

Israel and New Breed Live From Another Level

What is your favorite food and drink?

I love a great steak and Baked Sweet Potato with a large glass of Lemonade.

Who is one person you would like to meet (alive or dead, musician or not)?

I would love to meet Hannibal Barca (not Lecter) or George Washington Carver.

Who would you cast to play you in a movie?

Never considered that, Ask me again when I have a little more of my story written.

Besides music, what are you into?

Most things with an engine, Firearms, Travel, Electronics, and a whole lot of other things that there is not enough space for here.

Tell us about your experience with PRA Audio and WiC Wireless System?

“It is the closest thing you can get to having a wireless wire. It is that simple and reliable. I plug it in and it works.”
