Audality’s wireless technology has been developed over the years with the help of industry experts - first with professional musicians and our wireless instrument products, and now with producers and audio engineers on the home audio front. We took all of their feedback and were able to perfect our speaker technology and our patented WiC® wireless technology to be superior to Bluetooth and WiFi, and other Hi-Fi speakers on the market. As a result of the experts who helped us get our sound just right, our speakers have many similarities to studio monitors vs typical home Hi-Fi systems (although these still are home audio speakers).

Studio monitors are designed with flat Frequency Response

Our speakers’ frequency response is designed like a studio monitor. Many Hi-Fi speakers boost the bottom end and the top end to make the music seem more powerful or crisp. Studio monitors are designed to keep all frequencies flat without adding any coloration to the sound. What this does is give you a purer, cleaner sound for a more accurate reproduction of what the artist intended you to hear, and quite a bit more detail than typical Hi-Fi speakers. We tested this on our speakers with a few visits to meet with sound engineers in their studios and were very pleased with results. We determined that our S5 and S7 wireless speakers are both comparable and in some cases superior to the monitors that were already in place.

** Although our speakers are programmed with flat frequency response, most streaming platforms have an equalizer which allows you to boost or enhance the frequency response however you like. We chose to start flat because we believe in hearing music the way the artist meant for you to hear it.**

Passive vs. Active speakers

Most home Hi-Fi speakers are passive, receiving power from an external amplifier. Studio monitors are active/powered which means the amp is built directly into the speaker cabinet. In the home audio realm, having the amplifier built directly into the cabinet eliminates the need for the external amp, therefor making setting up a listening room much easier (and less expensive).

The internal amplifier also allows for more dynamic frequency response.

Many studio monitors have more than one power amplifier - one for each woofer, speaker, and tweeter - as opposed to a passive speaker, powered by only one amp for all speakers. By having a separate amp for each component, it reduces overlap between the woofer, mid-range speaker, and tweeter, which results in a clearer, more detailed sound image. While we do not have separate amplifiers for each speaker, our patented radio module matches the speaker components to the amp and smooths the frequency response at the amplifier, balancing out the drive to each component. By balancing out the power driven to each speaker and woofer, it makes it so no woofer or speaker takes energy away from the other speakers, you can hear each range of sound much clearer and accurately.

We thoughtfully chose to adopt these technical designs from studio monitors because they allow us to create the purest sound possible in a wireless home stereo system, however, there is one big difference between our speakers and studio monitors. Studio monitors are near-field, meaning they are meant to be close to the listener and aren't meant to fill a big space with sound. The expectation is that the producer is sitting up next to the speakers listening to the mix. Audality home audio speakers, on the other hand, deliver bold, crystal clear audio that will fill your entire home- but with the same accuracy as a professional studio monitor.
